Richard was involved in the establishment of A Rocha in Aotearoa New Zealand. After studying biology at Auckland University he completed a PhD at University of Toronto, Canada (focusing on the ecology of small rivers) before spending two years working for A Rocha Lebanon as a scientific officer. He now works as a freshwater biologist at NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research) in Hamilton and remains active in A Rocha Aotearoa New Zealand – as a Trustee.
